Restaurant Dashboard

Use the role-adaptive dashboard, optional widgets, and Customize to match each role's daily work.

The restaurant dashboard is your control room at the start of each shift. It answers: "What needs my attention right now?" and gives one-tap paths into full workspaces.

It is not a replacement for Shift Desk at day end. Use the dashboard during service; use Shift Desk to close with evidence.

What everyone sees

All permitted users get:

  • organization and branch context (when applicable)
  • operational shift status (open / closed)
  • fixed shortcuts: New Order, Billing, KDS, POS (when enabled)

These shortcuts stay visible even if you hide every optional widget. They are the fastest path from signal to action.

Role-adaptive layout

Zesty picks default widgets based on role and permissions:

Owners and managers

Typical signals:

  • net revenue and order volume for the period
  • payment mix (cash, UPI, provider)
  • refunds and cancellations
  • low stock or inventory pressure
  • attention queue (items needing manager action)
  • staff or shift activity summary

Floor and kitchen staff

Typical signals:

  • open orders and queue depth
  • KDS pressure (incoming vs ready backlog)
  • table context (occupied tables, open bills)
  • alerts relevant to their station

If a module is disabled by plan or permission, the dashboard shows a clear state—not a broken blank area.

Optional widgets (five types)

Add these in Customize when you want more detail on the home screen:

WidgetWhat it shows
Floor and tablesTable sessions, dine-in context
PaymentsSettlement signals, mix, recent collections
StockLow inventory, reorder pressure
StaffShift activity, who's on duty
AttentionOperational exceptions and alert items

Optional widgets stay hidden until you add them. Small teams can keep a calm, minimal dashboard. Busy outlets can stack more signals.

Customize workflow (step by step)

  1. Open the dashboard while signed in as the role you are configuring (or ask that person to do it).
  2. Tap Customize (usually top-right on web; similar on mobile Standard).
  3. Toggle optional widgets on or off.
  4. Drag to reorder—put the most important signal first.
  5. Tap Done to save.

Layout saves to the server for:

  • your user account
  • your organization
  • your role

Another staff member with the same role does not automatically get your layout—they customize their own unless you train them to mirror yours.

If save fails (network issue), the dashboard keeps the last successful layout. Retry when online.

Live refresh during service

Dashboard numbers pull from live queries. Figures update as orders and payments flow in. That is useful for rush hour; it also means totals can move until the shift is closed.

For owner decisions (payroll hints, supplier orders, tax estimates), prefer Shift Desk export or formal reports after close.

Mobile dashboard

Mobile Standard mode includes the same dashboard and Customize flow, adapted for touch. Easy mode uses a task-first home hub instead of the full widget grid—see Easy and Standard.

Training tips

  • Show new staff only the widgets they need—avoid overwhelming counters on day one.
  • Owners should review whether payment and stock widgets are appropriate for every role.
  • Put Attention first for managers during peak hours.

Common questions

I customized but my colleague sees something different
Layouts are per user. That is intentional.

Widget shows no data
Check shift open, permissions, feature catalog, and whether the module has data for today.

Can I reset to defaults?
Turn off optional widgets in Customize or ask your admin about role defaults in training materials.
