Sales Workflow Modes
Choose Orders only, POS only, or Combined service and understand which modules each mode enables.
Your sales workflow mode answers one question: How does this outlet mainly take money?
- At tables and QR → you need Orders
- At a counter register → you need POS
- Both → Combined
This is separate from mobile Easy vs Standard (how staff like the phone layout) and separate from Solo Run vs Shared Crew (how mobile crew share orders).
Orders only
Best for: dine-in, QR table service, takeaway with kitchen prep, any outlet that uses KDS.
What staff do daily
- Open operational shift
- Take orders (staff or QR)
- Kitchen prepares on KDS
- Billing collects payment
- Close day in Shift Desk
Modules typically used
| Module | Used? |
|---|---|
| Orders | Yes |
| Billing | Yes |
| KDS | Yes |
| Tables | Yes (for dine-in QR) |
| POS | No (hidden as primary path) |
| Marketplace | Yes (if configured) |
Reporting: All revenue flows through service Orders and Payments.
POS only
Best for: counter cafes, quick-service without table tracking, outlets that do not run a kitchen display for table orders.
What staff do daily
- Open operational shift
- Ring items on POS register
- Take payment immediately
- Print or share receipt
- Close day in Shift Desk
What happens behind the scenes
Each POS sale creates one hidden Order and Payment for reports. The receipt is what staff and customers see. These sales do not appear in the service Orders queue or KDS.
Modules typically used
| Module | Used? |
|---|---|
| POS | Yes |
| Shift Desk | Yes |
| Orders / KDS / Billing / Tables | No (service path) |
| Inventory | Optional |
Mobile: Easy Mode POS is designed for this style of fast counter sales.
Combined (default)
Best for: restaurants that run table service and a counter, or any outlet that needs both paths.
What staff do daily
- Table and QR orders → Orders → KDS → Billing
- Walk-in counter sales → POS
- One Shift Desk close for the whole day
Reporting: Reports read Orders and Payments once. They split POS vs service orders by capture mode. Never add POS totals on top of order totals twice.
What happens when you disable Orders
If Orders is turned off (POS only mode), these modules are also removed for that scope:
- Billing (service workbench)
- KDS
- Tables (for service sessions)
- Marketplace (depends on Orders)
POS and Shift Desk remain for counter operations.
Branch overrides
A group can run Combined at the organization level but POS only at a small kiosk branch. Branch feature settings inherit or override the org default. Review each branch when you add a new outlet.
How to change mode later
- Go to Settings → Features (or branch features for one outlet)
- Select Orders only, POS only, or Combined
- Save with password or email verification
- Retrain staff on which screens they should use
Changing mode may hide modules from navigation immediately. Finish open orders before switching if possible.
